Buddhists Everywhere

Because this place is such an important Buddhist site, monasteries and Buddhist organisations around the world have built their own temples and monasteries here, designed in the unique architectural styles of their own countries.

Random Shiva in a carpark

More school unis

Pretty neat huh

At least some hotels wash their sheets. Mine doesn’t.

Regular brekky spot

Rs 8 for a chai. 15c.

Electrical engineering

Not sure what these local bulbs are, but I can’t imagine the profit margin’s very high.

The local canal/shithole

Snake oil merchant

One of the girls looks a little browned off

Disabled beggar. Great education for the kiddies.

Tibetan script welcoming the Dalai Lama

Pics from my temple hop

Japanese zendo

These guys were going off. The sounds of their instruments are amazing - especially the deep bassy droney pipes and reedy instruments. Real cosmic-realm-hopping material.

Coffs has the Big Banana, Ballina the Big Prawn, Bodhgaya the Big Buddha

Where there’s pilgrims or tourists, there’s slave camels and horses

Healthy looking market stall

Another miniature slackliner

And another

Indian army terrorist smasher. The women would probably do a better job.
